| In 1988 the legal properties changed at Portugal and time was ready for the Hidrocentrais Reunidas SA to build two new hydropower stations near the villages of Ermida und Vila Viçosa. These two new Hydropower stations were set into operation in April resp. Mai 1993. The Hydropower Plant Vila Viçosa is located near the village Castelo de Paiva (southeast of Porto) at the river Rio Ardena, which also flows into the river Rio Paiva. The reason for installing this flap gate was the raising of the headwater level for this Hydropower station. Flap gate: width: 21,0m |
